Master Bedroom {A Painted Facelift} -

Okay. Remember earlier in the week, or maybe last week (I’m losing track of my days) when I talked about how to choose a paint color? I was specifically referring to my master bedroom. Well in a spark of “I can’t wait! I can’t wait! I can’t wait!” I painted it using the colors I talked about here.

Let me tell you right now, I am SO excited to share this with you I could burst. BURST I SAY!

Okay, so after we moved in and after my learning to pick paint colors fiasco, my master bedroom looked like this:

I call this my “baby bedroom” because it was certainly not grown up at this point.
Some really loud paint, ugly carpeting, and a bed on wheels. Sigh.

The first thing we did was replace the flooring.
A costly, but much needed investment. We did the whole house with the exception of both bathrooms and both “spare” rooms (one is a guest room and the other a hobby room).
Then we bought a real bed!
Bringing us to…
But there was still the issue of the noisy wall color. Sigh.

After about two years I decided to get on it.
And I have been kicking myself since I finished for not doing this sooner!!!!!
Who said going neutral had to be boring???
In better lighting ;)

Oh stripes how you rock my face off!!

I could just sit in here all day and squeal.

Ready for the surprise???

I left the ceiling color!!
At first it was just laziness that I saved that part for last, but when I went to paint it I was thinking “Hey… that’s kinda totally awesome!!”
Here’s another angle :)
In better lighting :)

I took down the jewelry cabinet on the wall and moved it into the bathroom behind the door.

Everything is exactly the same, I only painted the walls! You can see how  the new brighter color makes this room so much bigger. The before photos make this room look small and dark.

(Night)                                                                    (Day)
We inherited these great nightstands. Love the detail on them with the granite tops.
The lamps were a TJ Maxx steal at $26.99 each with shades!!

So I might have you wondering “Those stripes look perfect, but how perfect are they really?”

To answer your question… they are perfect. Oh yes.

And I am going to show with you how you can have perfect stripes on just about anything.

I’ll make a double post today since it’s Friday and everyone loves some Fridays!
But for this post I would love for you to tell me what you think about my master makeover.
All of these photos were taken at night! I can’t believe how bright it is in there! It’s like it’s the middle of the day! I can’t wait to see it when the sun hits those big windows from the east.
Ahhhh… heaven. Are you excited? Because I’m probably too excited.
So tell me!
Do you dig the stripes? How about the blue tray ceiling?
I’d love to know what you think!
XOXO,
Rachel

Love this, can you tell me what are the names or colors you used?

    • Certainly! The base wall color is Behr – Castle Path, and the lighter stripe is same family, 1 shade lighter, Behr – Sandstone Cove. They’re beautifully neutral with no pink or yellow hues. A bit of gray but still plenty of brown. It’s my favorite true neutral.
